Johnny Dawes TONIGHT!

Don't forget Johnny Dawes will be coming to Transition Extreme tonight to talk about his new book "Full of Myself".

For those of you that aren't familiar with him his major contribution to British climbing was the introduction of two new grades to the British Grading system for rock climbing (E8 and E9), and several new routes that are today still world standard. In 1986 he introduced the grade E9 to the British grading system with a first ascent of the route "Indian Face", a route of epic proportions and still to this day known around the world as the perfect example of high-end traditonal climbing.

Some other notable ascents include

1986 Gaia, Black Rocks E8 6c (first ascent)
1986 End of the Affair, Curbar Edge E8 6c (first ascent)
Smoked Salmon, Bamford Edge E8 7b (first ascent)
Face Mecca, Clogwyn Du'r Arddu E9 6c (second ascent)
Angel's share, Black Rocks E8 7a (first ascent)
1990 The Very Big & the Very Small 8b+/8c slab (first ascent)

He will be speaking tonight from 8:00pm tickets cost £7 in advance or £10 at the door.

The wall will be closed to climbing from 8pm so come down and then climb then relax after with a great talk from an inspirational legend of British Rock Climbing.

See you there!

Become Part of the New Dream Tower

Transition Extreme are proud to announce a huge new development for the climbing centre.

The new Dream Tower will add 14 new lines, with three overhanging walls, a slab and a vertical. We have more plans and photos in the centre, so come down and have a look!

The new development needs your help! We are looking for people to become involved with this project by helping us raise £5000 for new holds, desperately needed to stock the new tower and replace much of the ageing stock.

Therefore we have launched the SPONSOR A HOLD CAMPAIGN

We have 200 amazing Core holds, available from as little as £10. By sponsoring the hold you will get your name on the hold and be invited to a unique VIP event to climb on the wall before anyone else!

We have built a HOLDOMETER to chart our progress and have already raised over £500, come down to the centre to see the glitter holds move up towards the desired £5000 target!

You can also SPONSOR A LINE. For £200 you will get a plaque at the base of the route and a route set at your desiered grade, as well as an invite to the VIP event!

You can also DONATE A SET OF HOLDS, if you have something in mind that you think Transition Extreme should have, you can donate the holds and be part of the VIP event!

Come down to the centre to see the plans, sponsor a hold and help us gain our target of £5000!

Anna Wells: Guest Setter

Many of you at the wall will already know Anna, from her long time served at Transition Extreme.

Anna came up on Saturday to set routes, after so many requests! There is now a new 6a+ and a 6c. Come down and try them out! We have the routes book and want to know what people think of the route setting so feel free to add your own comments!

The bouldering wall has been revamped again following the second round of the winter series, so as well as the competition problems there is a full range of problems and more to come over the following weeks. We have begun trying to even out the grade spread on the bouldering wall, so have a look, try some problems and get back to us with your comments! The infamous volumes problem on the 45 board will stay up for the next week, so get cranking!
