Wild Weekend Fund-raiser

Transition Extreme are facilitating a fund-raising weekend on the 19th and 20th June.  The aim for participants is to climb the height of their chosen category (Graham, Corbett or Munro) through rock climbing.  The summer Solstice is on the 21st June so the weekend will give plenty of time and hopefully some amazing scenery to get climbing in!

You can take part at local crags if you only climb single pitch venues or head out to the hills to climb on some big mountain routes anywhere you like in the country.  There is no instruction offered so if you don't know what you're doing but still want to take part then you can team up with other climbers.

You will have 48hours from 00:01 on Saturday 19th to 00:00 on Sunday 20th to complete the challenges.

The height challenges are:

  • Climb the height of the tallest Graham:  Beinn Talaidh, 761m, Mull, NM625347
  • Climb the height of the tallest Corbett:  Beinn Dearg, 914m, Torridon, NG89536082
  • Climb the height of the tallest Munro:   Ben Nevis, 1344m, Fort William, NN16697127
There are also some difficulty challenges for you to have a go at.  To complete these you must climb all your routes throughout the weekend within a certain grade range.  These categories are:

  • Porta Ledgers:                      Moderate to Hard Severe
  • Winers, Diners & Climbers:   Severe to Hard Very Severe (HVS)
  • Scottish VS:                          Very Severe to E2
  • Nail Biters:                            E1+

Money raised will go towards helping Transition Extreme as a Scottish charity to better its facilities and fund projects and activities for other charities and organisations that may not otherwise have access to the recreational sports on offer.
