£3'000 stage reached on the Hold-o-Meter!

Yesterday we reached the fantastic milestone of £3'000 in our Sponsor A Hold Campaign. This pushes us well over half way to reaching our goal of £5'000. As you can see Tom is very happy with the two new glittery holds we have been able to add to the hold-o-meter! All of this money will be put directly back into purchasing new holds, replacing the ageing stock and bringing in lots of new shapes and sizes.

Remember there is still plenty of time to sponsor a hold or a line. Construction of the wall starts very very soon (see the post below), so become part of something huge!

Neil Morrison lecture - 6th March

Following on from Andy's excellent talk last month, the final Etchachan Club lecture this winter will start at 8.30pm on Tuesday (March 6) at Transition Extreme with a talk by Neil Morrison.

"Island Cragging in Scotland Europe"

Neil has been a significant pioneer of new rock routes, particularly on the North East sea cliffs and other Scottish outcrops over a long period of time. He is also the editor of the current SMC Climbing Guide to the North East Outcrops.

Neil’s talk will describe rock climbing trips to a number of islands, mainly Scottish, including Skye, Erraid, Orkney, Pabbay and Lewis. Trips further afield to more warmer climes (Mallorca and Kalymnos) will also be included.

The talk will start at 8.30pm which will give time for a session on the wall beforehand. We will be charging £2 admission and this money will be used to provide free refreshments to encourage people to stay and talk together afterwards.

Rob from DMM

Rob from DMM was in on Thursday night showcasing the latest DMM shiny bits and bobs. His display was busy all night with customers checking out the new ice axes, ropes and harnesses.

New holds!

We had a delivery of some great King Kong holds today. They're part one of two including a wide range of holds. The holds today were a mix of pockets, small jugs, crimps and lots of huge jugs of all shapes and sizes.

The next delivery in a month or so will include another hundred holds comprising of crimps, slopers and pinches.

These holds are the second batch bought with the funds raised by our fantastic customers for the new climbing tower which will be ready in April.

Climbing Wall construction underway in March!
